Looking after you

A game you can leave

We built Fernlantern to be easy to stop playing. Here is what that means in practice, and where to get help if it is not enough.

If gambling is harming you right now, the National Gambling Helpline is free, confidential and open 24 hours: 0808 8020 133. There is also live chat at GamCare.

Why a calm game still has an age gate

Take the money out of a slot and what remains is the part that holds attention: the rhythm, the almost-wins, the pots creeping upward, the sound that marks a win. Those mechanics do not become harmless because the stake is imaginary, and research repeatedly connects social casino play with later real-money gambling in young people. So Fernlantern is 18+ and labelled as such, even though nothing here can be lost.

The design decisions we made on purpose

  • No shop. There is no way to spend money on this site, because we never built one.
  • No prizes. No cash, vouchers, draws or items of value, and that will not change.
  • No gambling advertising. No affiliate links, operator banners or "play for real" buttons.
  • Nothing expires. The daily handful waits for you. No streak breaks, no offer runs out mid-session.
  • No notifications. We do not have your email address and we are not going to ask for it.
  • Quiet wins. Big-win animations are short. The point is the game, not the fireworks.

The honest comparison

A free slot is tuned for comfort. A real one is tuned for margin. Wild Bloom returns 97.3% of coins staked, pays on nearly half its spins, and refills your balance for free whenever it empties. No real-money machine does any of those things. A good session here tells you nothing about a real one.

Worth noticing

  • You planned ten minutes and it has been an hour, more than once.
  • A quiet run makes you tense rather than bored.
  • You open the site to change a mood, not because you want to play.
  • It is taking time from sleep, work or the people around you.
  • You have started wondering where the real-money version lives.

Treat the last one as the signal. If a free game is pushing you towards a paid one, the right next move is support and not a deposit.

Practical ways to stay in charge

  • Use a clock, not a coin target. Balances drift; time does not.
  • Leave autoplay alone. Batched spins are how an hour disappears unnoticed.
  • Skip the daily handful. It is a reason to come back and it is built to be ignorable.
  • Wipe it whenever you want. Clearing this site's data removes balance, level and stats instantly.
  • Block us properly. A browser extension such as BlockSite, or your device's screen-time controls, will keep Fernlantern out permanently. We would rather that than a half-hearted exit.

Children and shared devices

If children use the same device, platform parental controls are worth setting whatever sites are in play. Internet Matters has free guides for every major system. If you think a child is using Fernlantern, tell us and we will help you block it.
